Nelson Mandela: The Freedom Fighter!
Did you know that once South Africa was a country full of hatred and unequal rights for people that were not white? Well it was and it all changed when people started to fight back. They fought back for their freedom. They were treated in very inhumane ways. The Indians, Coloureds and Africans were all treated unfairly. If they went to a shop for example they would usually have to around the back or downstairs to where the "Blacks Only" serving place was. But there was one freedom fighter that stood out from the rest of them. He was Nelson Mandela. he is a great man and he is 92. He spent 27 years of his life in prison. But although he was beaten and treated badly he still stood up for what he believed in. Eventually he was released from prison in the year 1990 and 4 years later became the President of a New South Africa. Why New? Because he made everything equal. People were given equal rights. No particular race was lifted higher than the others. He was born in 1918 and he was born in a small village called Mvezo in the Umtata District of Transeki, Cape Province, South Africa. His father died when he was little. Nelson Mandela is a great man and we can learn a lot from him. Stand up for your rights and what you believe in even if it means living 27 years of your life in prison. If you want to watch a few movies about this 2 would be Catch a Fire and Goodbye Bafana (but they are rated Mature for offensive language) Hope you have learnt a lot about a very great man in history!
