Speeches!
Speeches. I am so sccaarred! Not. I LOVE speeches because, you get to share:
- Your opinion on things
- Subjects that can make people feel all sorts of emotions
- Show people what you know
- You get to get up in front of your class and strut your stuff! (this is my opinion)

A Shower of Presents?!
When we finally got to start we started with a game.
My mum is pregnant and like most women she had a Baby Shower. A baby shower is like a party for a lady that is pregnant. The pregnant lady is not supposed to know that she is going to have a baby shower because there are usually friends that throw a baby shower for that lady. They invite all of the pregnant lady's friends and usually it's only women that come to a baby shower. They buy presents and play baby games and it's quite fun.
This is the story about the baby shower.
I quickly got dressed and put my shoes on. Aunty Jamaine and Aunty Andrea were here to take me to decorate the hall that we were having the baby shower in. I was the only one out of my 3 sisters who was supposed to go to the hall and decorate it but my sisters have a way of begging that works and they happily ran into the car and sat down. Oh boy I don't want them!
We got in the car and drove to the hall. We had to unload a few things off the car and then we went inside. We spent half an hour decorating the hall and getting things ready. When my mum came she went into a room with Aunty Jamaine and Aunty Andrea and they started to make my mum up. Guests started to arrive so we sat them down in our circle of chairs.
The game was where you had 4 different chocolates and you had to mash them up so they look like poo. The 4 contestants had to guess what chocolate they were holding (in a tissue).
The second game we played was where you had to guess what size my mums tummy was and then cut a piece of ribbon to match that size.
There was one yucky game though. It was where we all had to taste some baby food and guess what 3 ingredients were in it. It happened to be apple, blueberry and muesli.
After the games we had dinner which my grandma cooked. After dinner we had ice-cream and I made a cake that looked like a duck.
I really enjoyed going to the baby shower and a big thank you to Aunty Jamaine, Aunty Andrea, My Grandma and all the guests that attended!
Daughter of an Author.
My dad is an author. He has written 2 books called From The Pit To The Palace and You Can and he has co-written 2 books called Inga My Story about Inga Tuigamala (ex-All Black) and 180 degrees about an ex-criminal called Adrian Pritchard (I wrote about him in a different blog post). He has also published and edited quite a few books.
As well as being an author he is also a preacher. He usually travels around in the weekends and goes to different churches in different places. If he is speaking in a church in Auckland or somewhere we can drive to he takes us with him. But if it is in a place like Christchurch then my dad goes by himself.
Getting back to being the daughter of an author. I've been to 4 book launches. Pit to Palace, You Can, Inga My Story and 180 degrees. I want to follow in my dads footsteps and become and author but only as a part time thing.
I really enjoy writing and you never know I could become a young author. Watch out for any of my dad's new books (most likely you'll know when I tell you). Hope you've learnt a lot about the life of an Authors Daughter.

The Copycat That Copied
Once there was a boy. I will not mention his name as I think he wouldn't like it to be mentioned. This story is about how he copied this other girls blog posts. He didn't exactly copy them word for word. Every time the girl would write about something he would write about the same thing. This went on for really long and in the end the girl went and told her mother and her grandmother (who happened to be very young somewhere in her 40's!) as her father was in Christchurch. But quite coincidentally the boy's father played soccer in the same league as the girls father AND the boys grandfather was friends with the girls father AND AND AND the boy's uncle knew the girls father as well! She wrote to the boy and asked him to kindly stop it. But that didn't work. So she wrote an angry message to him. That didn't work either. I think that the boy is intelligent and he can come up with some original ideas of his own to write about. But you should know one thing.
Copying me means you like what I wrote about so you wrote about it to. Thank you for showing me some respect by copying me.
You know what. Copy me all you like!

Missing Someone Special
My Grandfather is one of the nicest people I know. He is someone I hold very dearly but sadly he died. Most people only realise how much they should have really appreciated the time they spent with love ones who have passed away.
You know I think that when a person is alive it is better to give them flowers. Don't get me wrong I sometimes go put flowers by my grandfathers grave. But when they are alive they will appreciate them. I'm not saying you should go around and give everyone you know flowers (well you can if you like).
Anyway back to my grandpa. He is so sweet and kind and gentle. I think I know my grandpa better now when he's gone than when he was alive, because when a person is alive you don't really think that they're going to die so you wouldn't really think about that person and really study that person.
My Grandpa had Black her like coal with some strands of grey. He had brown eyes like chocolate and he always wore comfortable clothes.
My grandpa is really loving. Whenever we went to his house he would say
"Head kiss head kiss" and we'd have to put or forehead by him and he would kiss it. Sometimes when we went to his house we would run through the door and jump on him.
You may think Jamie Oliver is good at cooking. That's a sign you haven't tasted my grandpa's cooking.
There is one thing that I would like to leave you with.
My Grandpa always told me that
"Love Conquers Everything" and I believe that.
You may not believe in heaven but I believe in it. I believe that my grandpa is in a better place.

Nelson Mandela: The Freedom Fighter!
Did you know that once South Africa was a country full of hatred and unequal rights for people that were not white? Well it was and it all changed when people started to fight back. They fought back for their freedom. They were treated in very inhumane ways. The Indians, Coloureds and Africans were all treated unfairly. If they went to a shop for example they would usually have to around the back or downstairs to where the "Blacks Only" serving place was. But there was one freedom fighter that stood out from the rest of them. He was Nelson Mandela. he is a great man and he is 92. He spent 27 years of his life in prison. But although he was beaten and treated badly he still stood up for what he believed in. Eventually he was released from prison in the year 1990 and 4 years later became the President of a New South Africa. Why New? Because he made everything equal. People were given equal rights. No particular race was lifted higher than the others. He was born in 1918 and he was born in a small village called Mvezo in the Umtata District of Transeki, Cape Province, South Africa. His father died when he was little. Nelson Mandela is a great man and we can learn a lot from him. Stand up for your rights and what you believe in even if it means living 27 years of your life in prison. If you want to watch a few movies about this 2 would be Catch a Fire and Goodbye Bafana (but they are rated Mature for offensive language) Hope you have learnt a lot about a very great man in history!
